Die Cutting Alcohol Inked Yupo

Have you ever battled with die cutting Yupo or other synthetic papers? One minute it slices like butter… the next it’s a total flop. I’d heard the tip to die cut first and then add your alcohol ink, but honestly? My results were still hit-or-miss.

Then—cue dramatic drumroll—I stumbled on the easiest little trick, and to my absolute delight, it worked sooo much better! And the best part? You already have the magic ingredient in your craft stash.

So, what’s the secret?

I simply tucked a piece of cardstock behind my Yupo, ran it through my die cut machine with my usual cutting sandwich, and… perfection! It sliced through both layers like a dream.

I’ve been passionate about paper crafting and card making for over 25 years, with a special love for creating handmade floral cards. While flowers are my favorite, I enjoy experimenting with all kinds of card designs and techniques. Beyond paper, I’m also drawn to other creative outlets—like working with fused glass and exploring new projects on my laser engraver. For me, crafting is all about discovery, play, and bringing beauty to life in different forms.
